Unity is beyond 'how' and 'why', I am afraid :-)
There is one single thing you have in common with everybody else and everything else, irrespective of time and place - pure ever-present never-changing Being, Existence. Once you discover this Essence, you recognise it immediately as your Self, everybody's Self, the one and only Self, Unity.
